This year's award weekend was undoubtedly the most exciting award weekend celebration yet! We started the celebration Thursday, October 29th, 2026, at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore with our annual Meet & Greet. Celebrities in attendance included Peter Billingsley, Bruce Boxleitner, and Dean Butler. On Wednesday evening, October 28, we enjoyed a lovely evening at the Claremore Museum of History for the Will Rogers Author Posse, where selected authors were available to meet the community and other guests.
We were thrilled to hold WRMA's first Craft of Writing the West Conference all day Friday, October 30, at the River Spirit Casino Resort, where attendees enjoyed a variety of sessions led by award-winning authors, scholars, and even actors! Later that night Barry Corbin, Bruce Boxleitner, Dean Butler, Jennifer Rogers, and Rob Word presented An Evening with Will, where these talented actors read Will Rogers' most popular radio commentaries before a live studio audience, hosted by Tanner Messer (KVOO) and Tess Maune (News On 6). The next morning (Saturday) many of our winners participated in the Will Rogers Day Parade in Claremore.
Finally, we wrapped up this wonderful weekend Saturday, October 31, with our annual 2026 Will Rogers Medallion Award Banquet and Ceremony at River Spirit Casino Resort. A delicious dinner was followed by the reveal of award rankings, the presentation of medallions to our winners, and plenty of exceptional entertainment, including a visit by Grammy Award-winning singer, Clint Black. A great time was had by all!
