2024 WRMA AWARD WEEKEND SCHEDULE
October 18-19, 2024 (more details to follow)
Fort Worth, Texas
Host Hotel: We are thrilled to once again have the Aloft Hotel in downtown Fort Worth as our host hotel. The Will Rogers Medallion Award event group rate for a King Standard room is $189 plus tax per night. Reservations can be made by contacting Chris Enss at gvcenss@aol.com and she will set up your reservation with Aloft.
Transportation: Unfortunately, our hotel doesn't have a shuttle that serves either DFW or Lovefield Airport, so you are responsible for finding your own transportation to and from Fort Worth. We suggest you consider using Uber, a cab, or one of the other services you'll be able to find online. The Meet & Greet and the Panel Discussion take place at the hotel, but you will also need to find transportation between the hotel and Coopers BBQ in the Stockyards for the award ceremony Saturday evening. It's located only a few miles from the hotel, so once again, Uber or other transportation services are an option - there's even a city bus you can take! Your best bet is to find someone who traveled to Fort Worth by car at the Meet & Greet and ask if they would be able to take you to the Stockyards for the ceremony. It's a great conversation starter!
Friday, WRMA Weekend: MEET AND GREET (6:30-9 pm)
Friday night is social time for authors and publishers to get together informally and enjoy each other's company. Golden Lariat winner Bob Boze Bell will speak to the group as well. We will meet in the reception room off the main floor lobby at Aloft Hotel (334 W 3rd St) in downtown Fort Worth. A variety of appetizers, tea, and coffee will be available. *Authors and Publishers: If you would like your winning book to be included on our Friday evening book display, please either bring a book that evening or mail a copy to Laurie before the award weekend.
Saturday, WRMA Weekend: BOOK SIGNING (10 am - 12 pm)
A group of authors (who asked to be included in the book signing that was discussed in your original information letter) will be signing books at Monkey and Dog Books at 3608 West 7th St in Fort Worth. Chris will provide any updates to participating authors, but anyone is welcome to come visit the bookstore and support your fellow authors. The store is located about 3 miles from Aloft Hotel and downtown.
Saturday, WRMA Weekend: PANEL DISCUSSION (1-3 pm)
A panel discussion, "Book Promotions and Marketing," will take place at the Aloft Hotel (334 W 3rd St). Please rsvp if you plan to attend this free event.
Panel members include: Gary Goldstein (Kensington Press), Rosemary Sekora (University of Nebraska Press), Joseph Alderman (University of North Texas Press), Jenni Tyler (Arcadia Press), Amy Kelly (Lone Star Literary Life), John Brock (Texas Tech University), James Lehr (TCU Press), and Mike Bray (Wolfpack Publishing).
Saturday, WRMA Weekend: AWARDS CEREMONY (5-9 pm)
The banquet and ceremony will once again take place at the wonderful Coopers BBQ in the Stockyards (301 Stockyards Blvd). To reserve your dinner tickets, click here and mail your reservation form and payment to the address listed. Finalists should have received this form in their finalist notification letter package. Finalists will be responsible for purchasing dinner tickets for both themselves and any guests that accompany them.
